Artist, PlaygroundSquad 2020

Hello!

I'm an aspiring 3D prop/environment artist from Falun with a background in traditional 3D, and both traditional and digital 2D.

Having had no experience with digital 3D prior to applying to PlaygroundSquad, I begun experimenting in Blender in late June 2020, and by the time school started in mid August I had a good grasp of the fundamentals. At PlaygroundSquad I gained proficiency in Maya, as well as Substance Painter on my own time. The modelling of props and the assembling of environments spoke to me as a marriage of my passion for art, and my passion for storytelling. I love learning about the craft and all its influences, and I always strive to improve in whatever areas I can.

Before PlaygroundSquad, I graduated from Lugnetgymnasiet's Arts program with focus on graphical art and design. I then spent two years working as a personal assistant, where I gained valuable insight into the importance of inclusive and accomodating design.

Since 2011 I have been painting digitally in programs such as Photoshop, PaintTool SAI and Clip Studio Paint, and during my upper secondary school I worked a lot with clay sculpting as well as miniature model making.

All my life I have been passionate about video games, drawing and designing my own imaginary Club Penguin knock-offs with entire libraries of outfits and furniture as early as primary school. As a child, I enjoyed creating levels in Little Big Planet, designing houses in The Sims, and working on massive builds in Minecraft, a game I still play obsessively to this day.

Game Project 1: Duck, Duck, Boom

For this project I was responsible for:

  • Modelling and texturing the majority of the props
  • Assembling the environment
  • Creating the hand-painted UI
  • Designing and creating logotypes for the group and game

Game Project 2: Fear & Mischief

For the second game project I was responsible for:

  • Modelling and texturing the modular environment
  • Modelling and texturing a large portion of the furniture assets
  • Working with the level designer and iterating upon the level layout
  • Creating tileable textures and a universal trim sheet
  • Designing and creating logotypes for the group and game
  • Drawing and aiding in designing the UI
  • Creating the poster for the game
