Emmy Strutzenblad

Designer, PlaygroundSquad 2016

Hello! My name is Emmy.

I'm a fast learner and a bit of a jack-of-all-trades - I know a little bit about most things. That said, I'm always willing to try new things, and I'm eager to learn more about topics and areas where my knowledge is lacking. At times, I'm rather easily overwhelmed, especially in unfamilliar situations. But I never let that stop me from doing the work that needs to be done.

What I like to do the most when designing games is designing and balancing game mechanics. Since they are what makes a game, well, a game, my main focus lies on making sure that the mechanics don't hinder the Player and create as enjoyable an experience as possible.
I also like writing and world building, even if it's sometimes hard to avert gameplay-and story segregation. My biggest source of inspiration when writing is Terry Pratchett - His books are pretty much the only books I read on a regular basis.

I've been told that my game ideas are usually very lighthearted and playful. I strive to create an enjoyable experience that is easy for anyone to get into. Admittedly, I have a bit of trouble to think in terms of demographics because of this - My aim is to make a game that SOMEBODY likes, regardless of gender, age or what-have-you.

I'm a bit of a pun aficionado, much to the chagrin of my teachers, friends, family and everyone I get to work with.
