I have always loved videogames.
My first experience with videogames was a Game & Watch from Nintendo, and I was immediately hooked. Later when I saw Pong for the first time I became intensely fascinated that I could directly control something that was happening on a TV screen.
It did not take long before I started dreaming about making my own games. Still a little boy, I was drawing up my own level designs for Super Mario Bros on paper. Through most of my life I have been discouraged by most people around me to pursue my dream and look for a "real job" instead.
The dream still lives on though, and now I have the chance with a formal education in videogame design to see where it can take me.
Game Project 2 - Elsie & Elmer
Elsie & Elmer is a single player co-op puzzle platformer for the PS Vita where the player is tasked with controlling two asymmetrical characters at the same time. On this project I worked mainly on puzzle and level design using pen and paper or photoshop to sketch out ideas, and Maya to put block out the level and set coordinates for interactive elements. I also tested the game a lot and tweaked the settings for character movement and the camera behavior throughout the game.
Game Project 1 - Wild West Heist
This is an arcade style game on PC with an infinite number of randomly generated levels, where the objective is to rob a set amount of money from a train before the time runs out. The game continues until the player is arrested and the goal is to get as high score as possible before the game is over. My role in the development of this game was to ensure as high a quality as possible. I spent a lot of time communicating and coordinating the members of the project group to make sure everyone had the same vision of what the game was going to look and feel like. I also did a lot of testing of the game. Finding bugs and tweaking values and overall balancing of the game. I also took the time to conduct a little focus test.
